Somers Library Introduces New Hours SOMERS, N.Y. -- Beginning, this month, the Somers Library is operating on new hours. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday hours will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday hours will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., which the library said is to assist commuters returning home. Terry Losicco, Convicted Murderer Of Somers Woman, Gets Parole SOMERS, N.Y. -- Terry Losicco, the man convicted in the 1980 murder of Somers resident Eleanor Prouty, has been granted parole, according to the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCSS) Losicco, 52, is tentatively scheduled to be released from prison on March 3, according to the DOCSS overview of his parole status. He is currently an inmate at the Fishkill Correctional Facility and has been incarcerated in prison for 415 months. Somers Education Foundation Postpones Blackjack Ball Due To Snowstorm SOMERS, N.Y. -- The Somers Education Foundation (SEF) will be holding its blackjack ball at a later date due to this past weekend's snowstorm. SEF cited safety as the reason for postponing the event, which will now be held on March 19. The blackjack ball, according to SEF, will be at the same time and place as on the original date. North Salem Library Hosting 'Ben's Chess Class' For Kids NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- The Ruth Keeler Memorial Library in North Salem is offering chess classes for elementary school-age children in kindergarten through fifth grade. The sessions, known as "Ben's Chess Class," are scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 28 and Wednesday, Feb. 3. Both sessions will take place from 5:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the library. The class is named after the teacher, who is North Salem Middle School seventh grader named Ben, according to the library.
