SAT 'Boot Camp' Session Offered To Somers HS Students SOMERS, N.Y. -- Tutoring company Catalyst announced that it is offering a 2-day SAT prep session to Somers High School students, according to an announcement posted on the school's website. The sessions are geared towards students in the classes of 2017, 2018 and 2019.  The sessions will explore aspects of the revamped SAT, according to Catalyst, and will cover exam areas ranging from "textual evidence" to "data analysis." New Castle Distracted-Driving Crackdown Yields 763 Tickets CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- New Castle Police issued 763 tickets this past year as part of a crackdown on distracted-driving offenses, Supervisor Rob Greenstein announced. In addition to a crackdown by police, town has made publicity push to warn vehicle operators against distracted driving, which can include activities such as texting. Bedford Historical Society Turns 100 BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Friday was a special day for the Bedford Historical Society, for it was exactly 100 years ago that it was founded. The society, according to its website, was formed on Feb. 5, 1916 to save the Historical Hall building. Since then, several buildings have been preserved, most of which are in the hamlet of Bedford Village. The buildings include the stone schoolhouse, the Bedford Free Library, the Bedford General Store, the Sutton clock tower, the Bedford Oak and the post office.
