Kenilworth Man Fatally Struck By Vehicle: Westfield PD A 71-year-old Kenilworth man was fatally struck by a vehicle in Westfield on Monday, Aug. 4, authorities said. At 9:54 a.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of W. North Avenue and found the cyclist with traumatic injuries, Westfield police said. The cyclist, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The crash remains under investigation, police said.

92-Year-Old Maplewood Woman Using Walker Killed By Vehicle At Rehab Center: Prosecutor A 92-year-old Maplewood woman was fatally struck by a vehicle on Friday, Aug. 1, authorities said. At 5 p.m., the driver of a 2011 white Toyota Corolla was attempting to park their vehicle at the Winchester Gardens Rehabilitation Center in Maplewood when they drove their car through the bushes dividing the parking lot from the roadway and hit Juli Towell, who was walking with a walker, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. 86-Year-Old Maplewood Man Killed After Hit By Truck On Route 78: Njsp An 86-year-old Maplewood man was killed after he was hit by a truck on Route 78 in Union County, authorities announced Monday, Aug. 4. On Thursday, July 31, at 11:57 a.m., troopers responded to Route 78 East in Union Township after Welton Johnson entered the roadway and was struck by a Freightliner tractor trailer, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said. Funeral arrangements have not been publicly released.

Reckless Rockaway DWI Driver Busted After Crash: Denville PD A 24-year-old Rockaway Township man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in Denville, authorities announced Monday, Aug. 4, authorities said. On Saturday, Aug. 2 at 10:26 p.m., officers responded to a crash on Old Beach Glen Road and determined the driver, Henilkumar Patel, was operating the vehicle while intoxicated, Denville police said. Patel is charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and careless driving, police said. He was released pending a court appearance, police said.

Residents Evacuated After Gas Line Struck: Evesham PD A struck gas line forced the evacuation of nearby residents in a neighborhood in Evesham Monday, Aug. 4, authorities said. At 9:30 a.m., officers responded to Irongate Road and Nottingham Road after a construction crew operating in the area struck a gas line, Evesham Township police said. Shooting Victim Won’t Identify Suspects: West Orange Police A person was shot in West Orange early Sunday morning, Aug. 3., authorities said. At 2:37 a.m., officers received a call from a resident who said they sustained a gunshot wound to the neck, West Orange police said. The caller requested medical assistance but refused to provide any information regarding how the injury occurred or who was responsible, police said.
