Kenilworth Man Fatally Struck By Vehicle: Westfield PD A 71-year-old Kenilworth man was fatally struck by a vehicle in Westfield on Monday, Aug. 4, authorities said. At 9:54 a.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of W. North Avenue and found the cyclist with traumatic injuries, Westfield police said. The cyclist, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.  The crash remains under investigation, police said.

86-Year-Old Maplewood Man Killed After Hit By Truck On Route 78: Njsp An 86-year-old Maplewood man was killed after he was hit by a truck on Route 78 in Union County, authorities announced Monday, Aug. 4. On Thursday, July 31, at 11:57 a.m., troopers responded to Route 78 East in Union Township after Welton Johnson entered the roadway and was struck by a Freightliner tractor trailer, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said. Funeral arrangements have not been publicly released.
