Mahopac Public Library's 2016-17 Budget Easily Passes MAHOPAC, N.Y. --  Voters this week approved the Mahopac Public Library's proposed 2016-17 budget by a wide margin. Results released by the library show that 311 voted in favor of the budget while 59 voted against it. The budget is $2,869,047, which is a spending increase of roughly 0.58 percent. The tax levy, which is the total amount of property tax revenue for the budget, is $2,629,219 and will rise by around 0.33 percent. Pound Ridge Park Hosting 'Gaga Fest,' Pool Open House POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- Pound Ridge Town Park will be busy this coming Sunday. The first event is called Gaga Fest, which is a play time for kids. Gaga Fest, which was previously scheduled for May 1 but postponed due to inclement weather, is scheduled to run from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. On the other side of the park, the town pool will be hosting an open house for the community. The open house, which is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., will include live music and barbecue.

Cross-Country Bicyclist Speaking At Ruth Keeler Library NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- South Salem resident and cross-country bicyclist Lorenzo Serra will be visiting North Salem's Ruth Keeler Memorial Library to discuss his experiences. Serra biked from Banff, Canada to the Mexican border, the library notes. He will visit on Saturday, June 11 at 4:30 p.m. Serra's cross-country trek was done for the Tour Divide bicycle race, which the library notes was for 2,745 miles and took place over 19 days. He will also bring his tent and bike to the talk, the library adds.

Friends members will be offered a preview on Wednesday, June 8. Bedford School Board Mulls Tax Cap-Compliant Budget With About 55 Job Cuts BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Regrouping more than a week after Bedford Central voters defeated the proposed 2016-17 budget, school board members opted to go with a revised version that includes more cuts and will stay under the state-mandated tax levy cap.
