'Boulevard' Developers Seek Zoning Change For White Plains Site
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- A New York City developer is seeking a zoning change which would allow it to build a mixed-use project in the south end of White Plains, according to a report in The Examiner News. Grid Properties has proposed the Post Road redevelopment project -- called The Boulevard -- to the city’s Common Council, the report said. Grid is seeking approval to build housing for hospital and city employees and a small retail complex in a blighted area that is now zoned for automotive dealerships, the Examiner reported. Fairfield School Board Elects Former Member To Fill Vacancy
RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – A former school trustee, who lost November’s general election, has been elected to fill a vacancy on the Ridgefield Board of Education, according to a report in the Ridgefield Press. David Cordisco, was chosen to replace Christopher Murray, who resigned his post in November, the Press reported. Murray has been the top vote-getter in the school board election, the article said. County Executive Robert P. Astorino is praising bipartisan cooperation, saying it was a key element of the recent passage of Westchester’s $1.8 billion budget. The spending plan was narrowly approved by the Legislature on Monday, Dec. 14, and formally signed by Astorino on Friday, Dec. 18, as six members of a bipartisan coalition of 10 legislators looked on. Cold Spring Driver Faces DWI Charges In Putnam Valley Accident
PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. -- A Cold Spring woman faces DWI charges after she was involved in a one-car crash in Putnam Valley, the Putnam County Sheriff's Department said. Police said that Kathryn Comperatore, 41, drove off Canopus Hollow Road early Sunday and into an earthen embankment. Sheriff’s deputies responding to the scene administered a sobriety test and determined that Comperatore was intoxicated, authorities said. POMONA, N.Y. -- Representatives of the Rockland Independent Living Center recently met in Pomona with federal officials to discuss how disabled residents can better participate in the emergency management process. Norwalk Man Wanted On Forgery Charge Surrenders To Wilton Police
WILTON, Conn. -- A Norwalk man wanted on forgery and larceny charges has turned himself in to police, according to a report in the Wilton Bulletin. Robert Citron, 51, surrendered to Wilton police on Saturday, Dec. 19, the Bulletin story said. He was charged with third-degree forgery and sixth-degree larceny after police said he illegally cashed a $500 check that had been made out to a family member, according to the Wilton Bulletin. Norwalk Police Seek Suspect in Stew Leonard's Purse Snatching
NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk police are searching for a suspect after a shopper at Stew Leonard’s reported that her purse had been stolen from her cart. The incident happened at the Westport Avenue store on Wednesday, Dec. 2, police said. The Prada bag itself was worth $2,000, and the red Gucci wallet inside valued at $4,800, police said. Police Investigate Stabbing At BJ's In Pelham
PELHAM, N.Y. -- Shoppers were shaken up Sunday after an argument between two employees of the BJ’s Wholesale Club in Pelham ended in a stabbing, according to media reports. Police told the Journal News that the fight took place at the store at 825 Pelham Parkway after 9 p.m. The victim, who was stabbed in the neck, was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx with serious injuries, according to a News 12 report.
