Pound Ridge Town Board Approves 2015 Budget POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- Pound Ridge's Town Board voted unanimously to approve a 2015 budget that would increase the tax rate by about a half percent at its meeting on Thursday night, Dec. 4. An earlier version of the proposed budget would have involved overriding the state-mandated tax cap, which limits increases in the tax levy to the lesser of two percent or the inflation rate. Fire Damages Home On Brewster's Eastview Avenue BREWSTER, N.Y. -- A fire that was extinguished by firefighters in about 15 to 20 minutes damaged a home in the village of Brewster on Thursday, according to Brewster Fire Chief Bill Rieg. North Salem Supervisor Reacts To Predecessor's 10-Year Prison Sentence NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- North Salem Supervisor Warren Lucas was present at the federal courthouse in Manhattan when his predecessor, Paul Greenwood was handed down a 10-year prison sentence. Greenwood resigned in 2009 after his legal situation came to light, and was succeeded by Lucas, who estimated that 68 people, not including the defendant or his attorneys, were at the sentencing.
