New Greenburgh Public Library Sign Guides Motorists From Tarrytown Road
GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- The Greenburgh Public Library has installed a new outdoor sign on the wall in front of the building. The sign is to help prevent patrons from overshooting the entrance on Route 119. It was made possible by the Friends of the Greenburgh Library Special Project Fund.

Make Your Voice Heard About Future Of Mount Vernon Public Library
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- The Mount Vernon Public Library is hosting a Town Hall Meeting on Aug. 31 at 6:30 p.m. about the future of the library. The library recently held focus groups to discuss strategies to improve the library's services, policies, facility and collections. The meeting is open to all members of the community and will take place in the library's Community Room. Light refreshments will be served.

Manhattanville Among 42 Colleges Chosen To Digitize Important Collections
PURCHASE, N.Y. -- Manhattanville College will participate in a Consortium on Digital Resources for Teaching and Research. The school is one of 42 institutions chosen by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) to participate. “As digitization allows hidden collections to be shared, teachers and scholars all over the country will benefit," said CIC President Richard Ekman. Darien Arts Center Holds Supper, Sculpture Workshop
DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien Arts Center will hold a supper and sculpture workshop on July 29 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Participants will eat a kid-friendly dinner and engage with Beth Cherico, Arts Center visual arts director, in a discussion about sculpture, shape and form. Parents can create wire portraits inspired by Alexander Calder with their children. Experience is not required, but reservations are requested by calling (203)0655-8683. Attendance is $40 per person.

Rye Free Reading Room Presents Family Fun Nights
RYE, N.Y. -- The Rye Free Reading Room will host a series of superhero-themed events for Family Fun Nights for parents and children ages 5 and older throughout the summer. Pop artist Michael Albert will lead a workshop on collage creation on Thursday. Pre-registration is suggested. On Aug. 6, Animal Embassy will show how animals benefit from each other in "Heroes of the Animal Kingdom." Pre-registration begins Thursday. Peekskill's Field Library Presents Trash To Treasure Show
PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- The Field Library in Peekskill will present Trash to Treasure: An Upcycled Art Experience in the Field Gallery from Aug. 6 to Sept. 6. During July, author and artist Jasmine Johnson guided students from the Peekskill Youth Bureau in a series of workshops that encouraged the use of recycled and environmentally sustainable materials in the creation of art and writing.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The White Plains Performing Arts Center will host a re-imagined update of the musical "Chess" at 8 p.m. Aug. 7 and 8 and 2 p.m. Aug. 9. CARMEL, N.Y. -- Hundreds of dogs from the East Coast and Canada competed at the Putnam Kennel Club's All Breed American Kennel Club Show July 17-18 in Veterans Memorial Park.
