Yorktown Students Inspired To Compost After Touring Hilltop Hanover Farm
YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Students at Our Montessori School recently visited Hilltop Hanover Farm in Yorktown for a hands-on lesson on local agriculture, produce, and history.
With roots dating back to the 1600s, the working crop farm and environmental center says it operates on the principals of sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship, community education, and food for all.
And to show that it also walks the walk, Hilltop donates 10 percent of the vegetables it grows to local food pantries and holds numerous tours, lectures, classes.

Beginner's Guide Touts Accessibility Of Target's Latest Wine Offerings
Target is distributing a beginner’s guide to wine in order to spur interest in the latest vino to hit its shelves, according to a report in supermarketnews.com.
The retail chain is, according to the report, emphasizing the “approachability” of three Republic of Wine varieties, including a champagne from France, a California chardonnay, and a Cotes du Rhone.
The guide, written by winemaker Erin O’Brien, offers flavor notes and food pairings, supermarketnews reported.

Wilton Rock Concert Raises 26K For Food Charities
WILTON, N.Y. -- Two local food charities got a big boost recently after Wilton resident Andy Schlesinger pulled off a fund-raising rock concert, according to a report in the Wilton Bulletin.
The first-ever Wilton Rocks for Food event, held at the Trackside Teen Center, raised $26,000 for the Wilton Interfaith Food Pantry and the Connecticut Food Bank, the Bulletin reported. The money was split evenly between the two entitites.
Schlesinger, a musician himself, gathered together local bands, graphic designers, sponsors, and volunteers for the Dec. 5 event, according to the story.
